uma leader in Semantic Web Technology Wins IBM as Latest Customer

UMA INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY WILL INSTALL INTERACTIVE MULTITOUCH DISPLAY SYSTEM IN IBM REGIONAL HEADQUARTERS FACILITY IN VIENNA

VIENNA, AUSTRIA - uma, the leading innovator in semantic web technology today announced that it has added IBM as the latest customer for its innovative uma SKIN™ (Semantic Knowledge Information Network) semantic display product. IBM will install uma SKIN at its regional (IBM Alps) headquarters facility in Vienna. The system enables visitors to access real-time information based on suggested topics or key words. Leveraging uma’s semantic content curation engine, the uma SKIN™ product provides a display that can be touched and manipulated, and provide response, in the form of information. The installation of uma SKIN enables visitors to simultaneously interact with IBM information, as well as related audiovisuals, local and global news, and other rich media and Web 2.0 content.

“We believe that the uma SKIN installation for IBM is a perfect example of how technology companies can promote their innovations for their constituents and the public alike,” said Christian Doegl, founder and CEO of uma. "Our integrated semantic curation technology enables our customers to leverage their existing content in a very cost-efficient manner, with a stunning new user experience. We continue to see great interest in uma SKIN from the corporate and retail markets.“

Recently, uma has commenced the roll-out of uma SKIN at leading German sports retailer SportScheck, part of the OTTO Group, and Luxury Brand Bally of Switzerland, which has created an in-store system showcase for customers that integrates uma SKIN.

Earlier this year, uma announced that it has expanded into the U.S., opening offices in New York and Santa Cruz, California. The company, which last year introduced the first semantic display product, called uma SKIN™, for digital content producers, retailers, and brands, recently announced its first installation for uma SKIN in North America at the  International Toy Fair in New York. Other SKIN customers include Siemens and the Austrian Power Utility Verbund AG.
