uma unveils multitouch interactive wall for Bally’s

uma SKIN™ Multitouch Display Makes Debut in Fashion Industry;

Showcases Personalized Shopping Experience in Luxury Retail

              VIENNA, AUSTRIA – uma, the leading innovator in semantic web technology and multiuser interaction, today announced that it has installed the uma SKIN™ (Semantic Knowledge Information Network) product at Bally’s presentation of its Autumn/Winter 2012 men’s collection in Milan, which was unveiled to the press on Sunday, January 15th. The 2.5 meter multi-user multitouch wall, integrated in the Scribe Made to Order showroom concept, presents an interactive World of Bally that enabled users to access custom curated content, as well as Bally’s innovative Scribe Configurator App.

The uma SKIN installation marks a new level of interactive shopping for fashion customers, enabling Retailers and Brands to personalize experiences for in-store shoppers while leveraging company and industry information – including custom videos and product stories - that enhances the customer’s engagement with their brand.

The specially designed World of Bally interactive space marks the debut for uma SKIN in the luxury fashion industry. Using the well laid-out, user-friendly Scribe Configurator App, Bally guests have the chance to replicate the experience of designing their perfect bespoke Scribe Made-To-Order shoe.

The uma SKIN installation provides multitouch displays that deliver real-time information, based on suggested topics or key words. uma SKIN enables users to explore a realm of topics which are presented and contextualized automatically from different data and web repositories. Using uma SKIN, retailers can centrally manage content for their stores in the cloud and then distribute to store locations worldwide via a simple web-based management tool. This cloud-based feature provides retailers with manifold options to tailor content semantically to their shoppers.

“Bally customers embody the future of interactive shopping, in which customized information can be called up instantly, and experiences can be literally tailored to the individual shopper,” said Christian Doegl, founder and CEO of uma. “uma SKIN becomes a trusted interactive partner in the shopping experience, augmenting the customer’s ideas and desires.”

Like an organism’s skin, the uma SKIN™ product provides a display that can be touched and manipulated to generate response in the form of information. uma SKIN’s™ semantic content curation engine minimizes the effort for content production, editing and curating and enables smart central management of distributed content. It can be used in corporate or public communication, retail, exhibition and museum scenarios. The semantic content curator engine is able to retrieve and contextualize content from various repositories or the web, including web 2.0 sources. Person-tracking enables passive interaction of content with visitors. The interaction with the content is on-demand and is personalized through RFID or NFC technology. Interactive screen area configurations currently range from 0.75 up to 18 Meters @ 29 Megapixels.
